Attitude: Two Wolves Inside Us

Attitude: Two Wolves Inside Us

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

Here is a powerful depiction that reinforces the premise what we think about or feed our minds we become.
An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, “A fight is going on inside of me. It is a terrible fight and between two wolves. One is evil; he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority and ego. The other is good; he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, trust, compassion and faith. This fight is going on inside you and every other person too.”

The grandchildren thought about it for a minute and then one child asked the grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
